Have you ever noticed a neighbor's child calling you uncle even though you are not married? Baldness is one such problem which takes the shine out of one's life and a person starts feeling inferior. However with the advance surgical techniques hair can be re-grown to an appreciable level. Hair transplantation is one such surgical procedure that has evolved over the period of time to provide a new life to a person by transplanting a hair follicle from a donor area to a balder patch. In simple terms for restoring a person's hairline his natural hair are used as a subject that are transported to his balder area. This hair transplant procedure in medical terms is known as Follicular Unit Transplantation i.e. FUT. Donor hair can be harvested onto one's scalp in two different ways-
1. Strip Harvesting

2. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
The first procedure is somewhat an traditional method which involves stripping of a scalp from a denser area which is cut into many small grafts to be stitched back into a patient's thinning hairline but the donor area is left with a visible scar. The modern and more sophisticated technique is discussed below.
Follicular Unit Extraction or FUE Harvesting – This revolutionary method involves removal of individual hair from usually the back of the head under local anesthesia and these micro hair follicles are transplanted into the scalp of the receding hairline of the patient. The scar left is minor which gets heeled up considerably and not even visible after few weeks. Te procedure, thus, gives phenomenal results with little or no visible marks.
After the scalp is treated upon it needs to be kept away from the contact of sunlight for a day or two and the shampooing is generally prescribed after such time to prevent unwanted scabs to accumulate near the transplanted hair. Under the above procedure the results are considerably visible beyond two to three month, the time when new hair starts to bloom and even more after eight to nine months when such hair even starts to thicken. Some patients even responded that their operated hair are as natural as it could get.
Certain Minor Side Effects
Thinning of hair at the initial stage is common but a temporary phenomenon which gradually starts to fade over after few weeks. Other side effect noticed is swelling of the scalp on the forehead which gets flattened after some time and if not medicines can take care of such problem. Itching is another common problem which occurs post operation and should be avoided as much as possible to avoid formation of scabs.
