Additional Hair Care Information:

While nothing really beats the effect that high quality hair care products will have on your locks, if you ever run out of your favourite treatment in the time of a hair-raising emergency, fear not! Below are a few tips for making your very own treatments for dry hair.

The Honey Treatment for Moisture-Hungry Hair

-->

Honey has a number of holistic uses and can even be used to assist in the healing of wounds. One of its lesser known uses, however, is its ability to lock in moisture when it comes to reviving dull, dry hair. It is also amazing for replenishing hair that has been damaged as a result of too much sun exposure.

You will need:

  • a cup of honey (preferably pure and organic)
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) of olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) of avocado

How it's done:

  • Mix the honey with the olive oil in a small bowl. The oil will loosen the consistency of the honey, making it easier to apply to the hair.
  • In a separate bowl, add the avocado and mash until smooth.
  • Spoon the avocado into the honey/oil mixture and mix well once again.
  • Massage the concoction into your hair, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends.
  • Leave on for approximately 20 minutes and rinse well with warm water.
  • Use the treatment once a month in between your normal routine of shampooing and conditioning. 1

The Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment for Lustrous Shine

Apple cider vinegar will add volume, bounce and shine to dull or damaged hair. It is also great for treating dandruff which is caused by a dry scalp.

You will need:

  • 1 tsp. (5 ml) of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) of olive oil
  • 3 egg whites

How it's done:

  • Combine the apple cider vinegar, olive oil and eggs whites.
  • Mix well.
  • Rub the mixture gently into your hair, paying special attention to the roots if you are looking to treat dandruff or achieve more 'bounce', or special attention to the ends if you are looking to improve the overall appearance of dry hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave the concoction in for a half an hour.
  • Wash your hair with shampoo and rinse with cool water for added shine. 2
